About

"I am made from the soil and the air feeds my fire. Today I’m a tree, my lower body rooted, my upper body sunkissed, moving like the water flowing through. I grow, play, invite and create. Our communities are the forest of life."

Seasonal Tales is an invitation to Alex' inner world. She moves on this earth as a Congolese and Russian individual, born and raised in the Netherlands, and embraces a life spread over multiple continents. Her senses, intuition, heart, gut, gratitude and relationship with the sun are her guides. Her interests lie in identity, symbolism, anthropology, botany, ecology and physical geography, exploring the interconnectedness of it all. As an interdisciplinary artist, her creations include writings, paintings, dance, fashion, crochet, recipes and upcycling. Her art is inspired by nature, heritage and celebrates childlike curiosity & playfulness. Alex hopes to create work that contributes to a meaningful dialogue, by offerring depth, recognition and connection through her creations. As an artist of the African diaspora, her work is a collection of and homage to personal experiences and stories that originate from different traditions, cultural backgrounds and places in the world. Her work is an interplay between small details of the realistic world around her and the vast inner world of her dreamlike imagination.

"To me, a flower embodies the circle of life, animals, fruits, the soil and plants. There’s a continuity and rhythm and it invites you into almost all of your senses. It’s a symbol for playfulness, uniqueness, expression, communication and community, which are things that I appreciate."

Seasonal Tales is the embodiment of Alex' creative-expressive wholeness and sensitivity and is used to continuously share and archive creative practices in ever-changing forms. In her daily life, she primarily works as a dance and movement artist.
